your house is smarter than your oracle cards
We all want to know what we can’t see.
I think it’s human nature. Although, it could totally be a me thing.
I’m the one grabbing for my pendulum, my oracle cards, or my dowsing rods when I’m in the middle of a stress-induced excema flair up, because I want confirmation that everything is going to be okay.
But, I had a thought this morning on my walk…
My divination tools have a great track record when my questions are crystal clear, and I’m unattached to the outcome. But when I’m attached to the future looking a certain way, my divination tools misfire.
My house on the other hand never lies to me. It shows me exactly what I’m avoiding. Every time.
Not through cards or symbols I have to interpret. Through clutter. Or through control.
Here’s what I mean.
When there’s something I don’t want to see, my house does one of two things.
Either a hot spot of clutter starts building — the kitchen counter, the pile on top of the washing machine, the floor of my closet — and it becomes a buffer. Something to look at instead of the thing I actually need to look at.
Or the opposite happens. I get tight. The throw pillows get fluffed and angled just right. The kitchen stools are perfectly arranged under the kitchen counter. The bed gets made before I can even think about leaving the house. Nothing out of order, nothing left undone. I somehow think if I keep enough control over every surface, the thing I'm sensing but not ready to face won't actually happen.
Clutter or control. A mess I hide behind, or a grip I can’t loosen.
Either way — energy can’t move. It’s blocked by the pile, or it’s strangled by the grip.
And when energy can’t move in your house, it can’t move in your life either.
The clarity you’re craving? It’s on the other side of that stuck energy.
HERE’S THE PRACTICE
Notice which one you’re doing right now. Clutter or control.
Then do the opposite of what you’re currently doing.
If clutter has accumulated, clear it. Not the whole house. Just the hot spot. The counter. The pile of cascading mail.
If you’re a control-freak (no judgment, I’m one too), loosen. Toss the throw blanket across the couch instead of folding it just so. Leave a few dishes in the sink overnight. Let something be a little imperfect on purpose.
You’re not decorating. You’re not organizing. You’re signaling to yourself that it’s safe to see clearly again.
And that’s when the messages start coming through.
Not because you sat with your divination tools. Because you got out of your own way.
My house has never once been wrong about what I was avoiding. I have been known to pull a second card, because I haven’t liked the message of the first card!
I think we already know. We just need our space to open up enough to let us see it.
NOW OVER TO YOU
I’m curious —
When something’s bubbling under the surface that you’re not ready to look at... does your house pile up, or does it lock down?
If you’re a clutter hot spot person, tell me where it lives. The counter, the closet floor, the mail pile with a mind of its own?
If you’re a control person, tell me what you obsess about. The perfectly folded throw, the label-everything pantry, the thing that has to be just so before you walk out the door?
Let me know in the comments.
xoxo

Kitchen counter and table has been a dumping ground the last few weeks and lots of things have been going wrong🥴 never though of it before
Currently, I’m locking down - everything has to be “just so” - and it’s a LOT. Not great for me, or my family. Thanks for sharing your tips to loosen: it feels hard to do which suggests it’s definitely what I need!
